Lagoon City Kiteboarding on Lake Simcoe

Kiting Activities: Water kiting and snow kiting. Do not fly trainer kites in the park!
Rider Skills/Level: Intermediate to advance level. All beginners MUST be able to launch and land kite on/form water and be able to perform self-rescue techniques.
Water Conditions: Flat water! Fine sand bottom with small gravel south. Be aware of the few boulder rocks awash close to the entrance. Shallow (knee to waste deep) for about 300m into the lake until the sand bar, then gets deep and wavy.
Wind Direction: The best wind directions are S, SW and W. WNW or NW wind is always gusty.
Kite Launching Instructions
Setup your kite along the fence, walk into the water at least 50m away from the shore and perform water launch or assisted kite launch with an instructor. Do not launch kite near the swimming area marked with buoys.
How To Get Here: From Toronto take HWY 404 North till the end. Exit at Woodbine Avenue North and right away take Ravenshoe Road East to HWY 48. Follow HWY 48 north until the fork and then take HWY 12 North to Ramara Road 47.
Parking: Free parking at the community mailbox area, over-wise follow road signs and restrictions.
Rules: Please do not block the water entrance with your kite. Do not occupy kids playground. All kiteboarders must stay closer to the fence.
Respect the locals. Portable washrooms and garbage bins are available during the summer.
