Lake Simcoe Snowkiting Festival 2018
You have been waiting for this all winter! With support of the Township of Brock we running the Lake Simcoe Snowkiting Festival. Everybody is welcome to come to the party, however if you want to participate in the official Ontario snowkiting race and win prizes or get a free kite flying classes you must fill out the registration form. Hurry, spaces are limited!
DATES:
March 10th or 11th
(The exact date will be announced on this page once the forecast is confirmed. Usually, 3-4 days in advance. If there is no wind the event might be shifted to the weekend after. Don’t forget this is a wind dependent event, so pray to the wind Gods 😉
TIME:
10am – start of the event.
12pm – start of the race.
The time is also wind dependent.

FREE KITE FLYING CLASSES
The kite flying classes are completely free and run by the certified kiteboarding instructors of the iKite School. You must be registered to attend the class! Each class is approximately 20 minutes long and is a one-on-one with the instructor. You will learn how to handle a kite in the power zone of the wind tunnel. You will fly a 1.5m or 2m kite. This is a great opportunity for those who want to get into the sport and want to “try before you buy”. Please register to get your 20 minutes time slot. The classes will work on the first come – first served basis. Please don’t be late over wise your spot might be cancelled!
ONTARIO SNOWKITING RACE 2018
The race will be around the Thorah Island (~25km) or elsewhere, depending on weather conditions.
The snowkiting race is free to attend and there is no registration cost! Every participant must register to attend the race, if you are not registered – you cannot participate and win prizes. You also must sign a waiver in order to participate. The registration ends on Friday, March 9th. The schedule of the race may change due to the weather and wind conditions.
This is a long distance race around the Thorah Island with the start line and the finish line near the Thorah Centennial Park. Be sure that you have enough skills to go around the island and come back. The race distance is approximately 25km. The race will offer all categories, including men and women, snowboard and ski.
Your race number will be assigned once you register. All information related to the race will be published on this page. “Last Minute” information will be announced by the Race Director at the event. Check this page periodically for the latest updates about the snowkiting race.
Every rider needs to wear a helmet at any time of the competition. Every kite needs to include the standard safety-equipment (Quickrelease, Safety-Leash). The rider can use all kinds of kites in every size. You are only allowed to setup your kite in the designated area marked on the event map above.
